I'm not going to beat around the bush - The La Sportiva Nepal Cube is THE boot for New Zealand; or any other technical alpine climbing at moderate altitudes for that matter.

The best thing about the La Sportiva Nepal Cube is that it combines top end technology for minimal weight and bulk without sacrificing warmth while retaining the toughness of one piece leather and metal eyelets. Usually you get one or the other - A tough boot that can handle the scree slopes and rock but is not light by any modern means or a lightweight synthetic boot that is fantastic to climb in but you know will need replacing more frequently.

 As the name suggests, the Nepal Cube is the new benchmark in defining modern mountaineering boots. The key point to this boot is the Carbon Tech Honeycomb midsole. This not only cuts the weight but also increases the warmth.

Construction -

The uppers feature durable 3mm+ Hydro Perwanga leather that has a Comfort Gore-Tex Lining. The metal hardware is light but not delicate by any means. Beneath the Carbon Tech Honeycomb midsole there is a 2mm Polyurethane midsole for durable crampon attachment points and the boot is finished off with a Vibram Impact Brake sole. The EZ Flex system in the ankle also makes walking a breeze yet fully supports the ankle when on the front points.

Fit -

The fit allows for a generous amount of toe room so those with a wider foot will be happy but also comes with La Sportiva's EZ Out removable tongue so those needing to use up some volume can add this in for a precise fit. The heel is soft and snug designed to hold your heel down when spending long periods on your front points.
